Surya
Surya strives to positively impact the environment, society, and the communities in which they operate, promoting responsible business practices, at all levels of their supply chain, and creating products made by empowered women artisans who are respected and earn fair wages in a safe and ethical environment.
An important part of Surya's product development is to identify materials that are eco-friendly and sustainable. Many of their products use natural and renewable materials such as jute, hemp, and bamboo silk. They also use upcycled and repurposed materials like plastic bottles, sari silk, newspaper.
Surya has a strong history of contributing to the social and economic welfare of the communities they serve. Their founder, Surya Tiwari, started his career as a teacher in a small village in India and recognized early on the role of education as a catalyst for social mobility.
Surya gives 10% of their profits to social causes focusing on the education, nutrition, and healthcare of children, and aims to give back by supporting various non-profit organizations in rural India and other areas where Surya products are made through direct financial contributions and participating in many of their programs, advancing their mission and in turn elevating Surya's values.
